I'm trying to get my old powerbook g4 to synch with my new iphone 3g but need a newer version of itunes to do so.

I tried downloading itunes 8.1 but this doesn't run on os x 10.4.2

Can someone tell me if the two software packages meet at any happy point - i.e. an itunes old enough to run on 10.4.2 and new enough to work with an iphone 3g?

Hi there!

You have to update your OS X to version 10.4.11 before you can install the latest version of iTunes.

from the Apple menu (top left) on your Macintosh computer, choose Software Update... and install all the updates available.
Restart when it asks you too and then run software update again. iTunes 8.1.1 will now show up.
