I tried to use Version 5.0.11 back in February. All I got was the bouncing icon. The program wouldn't open. I contacted tech support and this was there reply:
"LimeWire 5 requires Java version 1.6 to run. Both require Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard running on Intel 64-bit processors. To find out what processor you are using, go to the Apple menu and select "About This Mac". LimeWire 5 will run on Core 2 Duo and Xeon processors, but it will not run on Core Duo processors because Apple has not released an updated Java version for older systems. More information is available on the Apple website:
http://developer.apple.com/java/javaleopard.html
You may still use the latest version of LimeWire 4 and receive technical support and updates. The "Older Versions" section in the left column of your download page provides a link to download LimeWire 4. Enter your email address in the following page to access your personal download page:

I uninstalled 5 and reinstalled 4 and it's working fine now.

Only compatable with newer Intel Macs - ZZBaron
Delete the Limewire folder in ~/Library/Preferences/LimewireFor an extra measure of caution, you might want to repair permissions, and restart before re-installing LW 4, but this last step may not be necessary.

I made the mistake of installing but now it won't let me reinstall version 4 of limewire and tells me a newer version already installed yet I removed all the pieces of 5. What can I do and is there an uninstaller ?Reply to This
