Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

A bad joke?

1. The patched version 3.7.1 would not launch on my PowerBook G4 w 10.5.6.

2. The nonpatched version did but the interface is ugly and cluttered with way too many icons and menu options that do not make intuitive sense.

3. I tried playing a game on FICS. The chessboard and pieces are nice looking but SCID was making moves I did not intend. I barely clicked on a piece and it would jump to a weak square.

The options need to be simplified and organized and the defaults need to make sense.

As it is, I find it unusable.

Making unwanted moves!? - Barry Kay

Just because it makes moves you don't like doesn't mean you have to trash the program.

After all, it is free.

Making unwanted moves!? - DrLeonP

How true. Please developer(s) create similar programs for checkers, go, and shogi.

PS There probably is a setting to adjust click response time or whatever but why do I have to hunt for it?

??? - Raimondi

1. If you have any problem with the Mac executables, please contact me and I'll try to fix the problem as soon as I can.

2. When you hover the pointer over the buttons, a short description of its function is displayed at the bottom of the window.

3. That's a feature of Scid, when you hover the pointer over a piece, it highlights the possible moves. You can disable it by selecting the following menu item:
Options>Moves>Show Suggested Moves

Please, if you have any other problem, please subscribe to the scid-users list at:

https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/scid-users

there are many helpful people willing to give you a hand with any problem, you can also recommend any changes to Scid.
