Offsite storage is nothing new and prices continue to drop. These Zumo folks don't say ANYTHING about how secure you data is and frankly I would be very cautious about uploading the contents of my machine to an unsecure location.

I agree. There is something basically unsound about entrusting your valuable data to some bunch of computer nerds somewhere in cyberspace. NO THANKS.Buy an extra hard drive. They are not so expensive anymore.
If you must have portability get a USB flash drive. They are very handy.

Still, this user gave the software a 1 out of 5 stars, without judging it on its own merit, but rather on whether he likes the "idea" of storing ones data online. There's nothing saying you must store SENSITIVE data, that's up to the user.Unless you have something to hide, I wouldn't worry about it.
What's the matter, are you ppl members of NAMBLA or something???

I don't think security is much of an issue if you're basically using it for things like storing extra MP3s for your iphone, the kind of thing the service actually seems intended for. It's not like you're putting your bank account info up there. I'd be curious to see a review from someone who has actually used the product for its intended purpose.Friday, November 20 2009 @ 06:43 AM PST

I haven't tried this app or the service in general, but it's not true that they don't mention security. From the wed site: Secure, Reliable Storage SSL Transferred. Stored in Amazon S3 with AES ZumoDrive keeps your content securely backed up using Amazon's S3 datacenters. Your files are first sent to the ZumoDrive servers using a secure SSL connection. From there, your files are encrypted using military grade AES encryption and sent to S3 where they are stored redundantly in 3 different physical locations.Reply to This
