Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Have Not Tried

Recommend Product: NO

Even though Apple states that iLife Update 9.0.1 is for the '09 versions of iLife, iWork and Aperture, Software Update wants to install it on my early-2008 black MacBook/10.5.6 with the '08 versions of iLife and iWork. I think I'll wait a while to find out how others are dealing with this.

Do you have Aperture on the drive?

Wants to install on '08 versions - -jpa

No, I don't have Aperture, just iLife as it came bundled on the MacBook and iWork '08. (I also want to correct myself: Software Update wants to install iLife Support 9.0.1, not iLife Update.)

I suppose the absence of cries of despair here suggests that major harm is not being done. The safe thing would be to do an HD clone before attempting the installation, but I already spent the better part of an hour doing that earlier today in advance of installing the Airport updates.

The same here - Ronald P. Regensburg

The same here. Intel iMac 10.5.6, '08 versions of iLife and iWork, no iLife or iWork '09, no Aperture, and Software Update offers this update. Not sure what to do. I think I will wait till more information is provided.

iTunes is part of iLife - Demolition

Software Update detects that you have iTunes in your Apps folder, so it assumes that you have the rest of the iLife apps. If anyone recalls, the same thing happened when iLife '06 users were prompted to apply the iLife Support Update v8.3 (for iLife '08).

So, if you don't have iLife '09, you can ignore this update. If it works the same way as the previous v8.3 update, then you'll just get an error message telling you that it can't update the iLife '09 shared components because they aren't present.
