Needs an option to continually monitor actual ambient room light, using 3rrd party light sensors like Spyder or Pantone or whatever, or maybe even using the iSight, and thereby make appropriate real-time adjustments.
Latitude, season and time of day would be a good start, but there are other variables effecting ambient room light.
Desk and room lamps, for instance are another. Wattage, color temperature and position of the lamps are variables. Windows, window size and orientation, window treatments, and cloud cover, during the day are variables.
Even the room itself, wall coverings, furniture etc., makes a big difference.
And the monitor itself has to be calibrated first, of course.
Why not take this idea and really run with it? Us photographers and graphic designers would probably be the first to sign on, if it really worked.
Just my 2 sentz for what it's worth.
