Does Not Sync Properly

Feedback Type:  Troubleshooting Report

Contributed by: Brass Hammer Sunday, February 22 2009 @ 11:45 AM PST

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: 1-6 months

I imported a folder from a Apple Server. Everything was fine. Subsequently, the folder contents changed. I "synced" everything and DEVONthink Pro Office did nothing. I have to constantly re-import the whole folder, which is a real pain.

Does Not Sync Properly - wbdeville

The behavior you observed in DEVONthink Pro 2.0 was correct. Use of Import to capture files means there is no synchronization between the original Finder folder(s)/files and the database content. The database is self-contained.

You can, however, use a Folder Action script to import new content added to a folder.

Alternatively, you could have Index-capture the folders/files. In that case, the folders/files are not copied to the database, but are indexed. There's one-way synchronization from the external folders/files to the database content.

How about presenting your problems to the active user forum or open a trouble ticket.

Pissing and whining in VT only shows how ignorant you are about the product and the excellent support provided by the developer.
