Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Recommend Product: NO

This program is a pile of junk.
Earlier versions worked great.
After paying to upgrade to Toast Titanium 10 this piece is AWFUL.
It crashes.
It doesn't send all the track info to iTunes.
It sends very large AIFF files as well as the format you choose.
There is NO help available and from what I can tell NO support from the vendor.

CD Spin Doctor 6.0.1 (Toast Titanium 10) is crap! - jcmacboy

I just want to add that this is the worst software that I've ever purchased (it came with Toast 10). Nothing in CD Spin Doctor 6.0.1 works as it should - if it works at all. Do not waste your time or money on this product.

CD Spin Doctor 6.0.1 (Toast Titanium 10) is crap! - eddthened

I only use CD Spin Doctor and Toast for one purpose - putting track mark points into continuous DJ mixes and burning them to CD. After a long search, this seems to be the only/easiest way to achieve this effect (a tracked recording that plays through with no audible glitches between tracks).

That said, these products are a nightmare! I had been running Toast 8.0.4 and Spin Doctor 4.0.2.333t. on Mac OS X 10.5.7. For the first time that I can remember, this configuration seemed to be stable (no more freezes, crashes, etc.) and life was good.

I then foolishly took on an upgrade to Toast 8.0.5. For whatever reason, this does not bundle Spin Doctor as part of the upgrade, and I was prompted for my CD key. The Key that I have for Toast 8 was rejected. Given that Spin Doctor has always been a bit flaky, I decided to purchase Version 6 (silly me!). Imagine my surprise when: a) S/D version 6 does not recognize that I am running Toast on my machine (it only works with Toast 10, it would seem), and b) all previous track editing on files manipulated under S/D 4 are GONE (not really, but invisible to S/D 6)! About 2 years worth of recordings.

The good news is that I could crank back and downgrade to my previous versions, thanks to time machine. The bad news is that I blew $145 on useless upgrades (yes - I fell for the trick of buying Spin Doctor first, then Toast 10 - which includes Spin Doctor as a bundled extra).

From the most recent posting on this thread, it looks like Spin Doctor has got worse, not better. I would tend to agree. For instance, it only renders a graphic of the waveform when it feels like it (no biggie if you are editing by ear, but a basic flaw nevertheless).

This has been my second round of purchases with Roxio, and each time has been a thoroughly miserable experience. I really don't understand the constant stream of accolades and awards that they garner, given that their basic product release schedules and processes are so customer-hostile.

Does anyone have alternative recommendations? Does anyone have any positive experiences with the Toast 10/CD Spin Doctor 6 combination, or should I hit the 'refund' trail and stick with the old (probably soon to be end-of-life) versions?

Hope this is useful, and thanks for any advice offered.
