Longer time user and fan of DW.

However, I see from the Alsoft web pages that DW4.1.1 as currently supplied with the updated software, on DVD will NOT start up late 2008, newer Macs (according to Alsoft, Apple hasn't released the necessary drivers).

Sorry, but the sale of your software depends on, and is part of its ability to work with currently available Macs. My old version 3.0.3 won't work with any machines I presently use, what's it worth? When it was current, I could make a startup disk that worked. I needed that on several occasions. So if you expect me to upgrade to 4.x, then please supply a version of software that will (or can be made to) run on today's machines.

Until that, no thanks! And, as good as it is at rebuilding, I can't recommend your product to anyone else because it lacks the ability to get your drive out of trouble in the event of a crash.

It's TechTool for me, at least for now... Even if it is half the retail list for the Upgrade DVD (no download).

UNFAIR to blame Alsoft... - Andreas..

You misunderstand the situation. Alsoft are only permiited/licensed by Apple to use a cut-down version of the OS as supplied by Apple. I am sure that Alsoft are even more eager than you to supply a 'full' product but they have no choice but to wait for Apple.

You know they pay for the OS and DVD right? - Ilgaz

The OS they use on DVD (and other vendors) is directly coming from Apple, in strict terms which disallows even editing its startup files.

It is not free, it is not like they make a new boot disk and ship it for money.

Also the DVD costs, post &packaging costs.

At least they aren't like some other vendor who wants to charge $100 for updates/year. They provide a free patch for people who already has working DVD/CD.

Please look to other vendors before flaming a little software company who does do a couple of products.
