It says in the title "are you fed up with firing up MS Word or Open Office?", Yes personally I am, but what really p*sses me off is that now when I double click on a doc file, instead of iWork Pages opening up my files (yes- MY word processor of choice), this Bean nonsense pops up. I can't seem to get rid of it. If I do a 'get info', and change my default (which always defaults to Bean- whether I like it or not), this wretched application opens up- despite having binned it from my applications folder months ago. Spotlight brings up nothing either. Bean is like a horrible virus, and the developers need to know that this kind of behaviour is completely unacceptable. (hmm- similar to the way Microsoft behaves eh?)

You really need to get a grip. The apps you're slamming have worked flawlessly for me: CopyPaste for well over a decade, Bean for over a year..It would be a good idea for you to slow down, and maybe take some computer classes to learn more about how to use a computer AND software. Then maybe you won't feel the need to jump off a cliff when you experience minor problems.
I once had a friend who loved to say: "You have to be smarter than the equipment you're operating."

Aggressively marketed? What a ridiculous statement. Bean if freeware. As you've admitted using CopyPaste Pro, you might want to spew your venom toward that app, or maybe its developer, instead. Better yet, maybe you should step back and try to better understand how it works before crying foul.
Bean works great.

The simplest solution is to find an example of one of your files in the Finder. Choose "Get Info." Click the arrow next to "Open with:" Then choose the word processor you want as the default for that type of file. Then click the "Change All . . ." button and agree to the change.I realize this does not solve the problem of Bean overtaking all other preferences. (I don't use Bean, but when I've tried it, it never seemed to do this. I agree, it could be a Copy/Paste program issue.) But it will at least get you back to Pages as your default.

Do you have CopyPaste on your hard drive? Bean is incorporated into CP, and won't show up in an ordinary search. You can kill it by opening the CP package.BTW, I give Bean a 5.

It turns out that if you have also installed CopyPaste Pro (which I had), there is in fact another copy of the Bean application hidden inside resources inside the application shell- very sneaky. Perhaps this wasn't intentional? Whatever. Still not impressed as it has both taken this long to find out and to get to a point where I was about to commit homicide!! (computer OS homicide that is) :(Reply to This
