Why bother? - Cortig

With just Spotlight, you can't really tag anything. If you want, you can add keywords to the spotlight comments of a file, but it quickly becomes tedious.
Try Tagit. The UI makes it very easy to add keywords, previously added keywords, search for them, etc.
