I just poured over the entire Micromat website, and NOWHERE does it make mention of ANYTHING that has changed in version 5.01 since version 4.6.2! ALL THEY DID WAS CHANGE THE GRAPHICS AND REPACKAGE the same old CRAPPY, DANGEROUS application they've been selling for years JUST SO THEY COULD SELL MORE OF IT (because people finally realized it SUCKS and stopped buying it) AND SO THEY COUD FINALLY RETIRE ALL THE NEGATIVE VERSIONTRACKER COMMENTS ABOUT THIER SOFTWARE!!!
HOWEVER, MacUpdate is more principled then VersionTracker (which really is just an industry lackey) -- MacUpdate WOULD NOT ALLOW MICROMAT TO JUST CHANGE THE VERSION NUMBER WITHOUT ACTUALLY CHANGING THE FUNCTIONALITY OF THE SOFTWARE IN AN EFFORT TO KILL OFF HUNDREDS OF NEGATIVE COMMENTS FROM ACTUAL TTP CUSTOMERS!!! SO, ALL THE OLD CRITICAL REMARKS ABOUT TTP REMAIN AT http://macupdate.com/info.php/id/4307/techtool-pro. If VersionTracker had not just retired the THOUSANDS of negative comments about TTP left by actual users over the years, you would see how incredibly NEGATIVE is the public's experience with this junk.
Micromat EVEN RELEASED THIS NEW VERSION AS v. 5.0.1 instead of 5.0.0 -- JUST TO SUCKER US INTO THINKING THAT IT HAS SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVED SINCE v. 4.6.2!!!
Seriously, DO NOT BUY THIS SCAM ARTIST'S BLOATED, MOSTLY USELESS JUNK UNTIL YOU HAVE READ EVERY COMMENT AT MacUpdate (and maybe you should Google it too to see all the other SCARY REPORTS about how it DAMAGES PEOPLE's SYSTEMS. THEN BUY DISKWARRIOR -- which everyone will tell you is the best disk utility on the market. And NO, I am not in any way related to the people at Alsoft (the makers of DiskWarrior), I AM JUST ONE OF THE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WHOSE DISKS WERE EITHER NOT REPAIRED BY TTP (but WERE repaired by DiskWarrior) OR WHOSE DISKS WERE ACTUALLY DAMAGED BY TTTP!!!
People, please recognize this for what it is -- A DESPERATE SCAM TO SELL MORE OF THEIR INFERIOR SOFTWARE AT A TIME WHEN EVERYONE HAS FINALLY STOPPED BUYING.

All I have to say is right click Kudrabar's name above and look at the other reviews he has posted. They are about the same, negative rants with little worthwhile content.Techtool isn't the greatest utility program in the world but I don't think it is anywhere as bad as Kudrabar claims either. I don't think I have ever heard about any problems with TTPro and I have read Macfixit and Xlr8yourmac like everyday for the last 15 years. I think the new interface is rather attractive looking and I would think that it would be a worthwhile investment for someone who hasn't purchased TTPro 4. Micromat has the right to update and sell new versions whenever it wants. Whats next? Are we going to get mad when Ford releases a new model of the focus and it doesn't offer many new features? Get real Kudrabar, its business.

Pay no attention to the jerk who wrote the main comment. - The Eck
I've learned through the years that the more words in all caps and the more multiple exclamation points in a comment, the less likely it is to be rational, accurate, or educated. The whole post looks like the hundreds of spam emails that I've seen cross my desk, not to mention the thousands of print junk mail that gets delivered to my mailbox. Also, no sane person would simply throw away their own critical thinking and simply go along with the crowd, as this poster is demanding (by referring us to thousands of negative comments). Its entirely possible to generate those thousands of negative comments simply by stuffing the ballot box.
If all that stuff were true, those people harmed by the actions of Micromat could simply team up and file suit to redress their complaints. Ranting on Vt will get you nowhere.

If you took the time to read the comments which he posted concerning more than what he said about TTP, you would see that it is not a comment from someone who knows nothing or is simply ranting. Furthermore, I would more likely believe what he says than the defenders of TTP because he knows the difference between 'there', 'their' and 'they're', something most of the posters do not know. [You may add 'then' and 'than' as well as 'to' and 'too' and 'two'. I often wonder if these comments are being written by 10-year-olds or if they are simply drop-outs from English classes.]Monday, February 02 2009 @ 06:32 AM PST

Well if this reviewer doesn't know what he is talking about, where is the list of changes from v. 4 to v.5?Sunday, February 01 2009 @ 07:50 PM PST

I'm wondering about that, too. I used to love TTP but the last time I upgraded (3 years ago?), it did some damage--nothing that couldn't be corrected, but a major pain and scary to boot. I haven't bothered with it since but have been checking users' comments and I seem not to be alone. A shame.Monday, February 02 2009 @ 05:45 AM PST

All ready ordered it... - lkrupp
TechTool Pro has served me well over the years so this sort of irrational, hysterical rant smacks of a clueless user who is disgruntled and wants the whole world to know it. Thankfully most people see through the stupidity of such rants and will ignore it.Some people actually know how to use utility software. Not this guy apparently.
