Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Recommend Product: YES

This version is the best IBM ever brought out. BUT: Don't intstall the stdandard version. The underlaying Eclipse system still is very very very slow.
My Tipp: install the basic version. It's much faster and runs on PPC-Mac, too, and, of cource, if your sys admin allows it, use the 8.5 template together with the Domino server 8.5:-)

Blanket advice to download only the basic version is wrongheaded. It all depends on your own Mac model and how much horsepower and system resources you have available. It's possible to run the standard version of Notes 8.5 with perfectly acceptable performance if you have certain models of Macs.

Thanks for this response. I have a MacPro with 2 x 2,66 GHz Dual-Core and 4 GB RAM under 10.5.6. I think, my machine isn't that bad and the standard version still is very slow. Don't get me wrong. I'd like to have the nice new features and so, but compared to the basic client the speed penalty is too high. And if you worked the whole day intensivly with notes (not only eMail but a bunch of applications, too) you would agree:-)
