It's like the story about the guy who goes around banging on a drum. When he's asked why he does this, he says to keep the tigers away. When someone points out there are no tigers in the city, he declares "it works!". There's no way to even know if this product actually works since there is nothing to test it with. If one really needs this kind of reassurance, it would make more sense to at least get software from a known security company like Symantec (which costs the same amount of money).
Careful! Symantec = Absolute WORST Anti-Malware App For Mac - zunipus
Please be careful what anti-malware applications and companies you toss around in posts. The fact is that Symantec have been making the absolute worst anti-malware application for Mac for several years. And when Symantec realized no one was buying their crap app, specifically because it was crap, they didn't bother to improve it. Instead they instigated the ongoing Anti-Mac Security FUD Era. It started in August 2005 when Symantec published a FUD article predicting imminent DOOM AND GLOOM for Mac OS X users when we would all be buried in malware. Over three and a half years later all we got were 11 Trojans. There are NO viruses for Mac OS X. There are NO worms for Mac OS X. There is NO illegal spyware or adware for Mac OS X.
Conclusion: Screw Symantec!
If you want the best anti-malware app for Mac try either:
1) iAntiVirus from PCTools for Leopard. It's FREE and works. Note that it only detects Mac OS X malware, not Windows. I have it, I use it.
2) Intego VirusBarrier. It's $70 shareware with yearly update fees. But it's easily the best written and least intrusive anti-malware for Mac. It also detects most Windows malware as well. I own it, I use it.
