This version still systematically crashes with HD movies in .mkv files. Even though this has been reported numerous times in their forums and is very easy to reproduce, they either don't care or are unable to fix it.

The most stable version of VLC is by far the 0.8.6i one that was release in July 2008.

Still can't argue about the price, like many I have been using this product for years, but it's unfortunate that the quality and stability of the product started to *significantly degrade* with the 0.9.x releases; perhaps the development team has changed(?)

QT with Perian is now a better and more stable solution.
