I just installed GlimmerBlocker so perhaps this is too soon to actually review it but... I am incredibly impressed!!! For a very long time now (since I visit tvguide.com almost daily) I have been looking for an app that would eliminate their large number of animated ads. The are quite a distraction, but also sometimes slow the loading of their site. Well... GlimmerBlocker did this right-out-of-the-box! I didn't have to create any settings for it to do this. Another thing... when I have used plugins in the past to block ads sometimes they have either not allowed the site to load properly or it took a long time for the site to load thereby defeating one of the purposes (i.e. to load site more quickly since the animated ads would not need to load). This software at least appears to make sites load much more quickly if they have animated ads (e.g. HULU). Also many apps/software hack the system or use input-managers (e.g. Pith Helmet) not necessarily a secure option for your system, though I know PH has a considerable following. As far as GB's speed... I'm connected via cable, but it still makes quite a difference when you are checking out many sites very quickly as I often do. Hope this remains as incredible as it appears in my short time of use. And to think that it is freeware! My compliments to the developers!
