Update will not install. I currently have OSX 10.5.5 running fine. Install hangs up at the point "Configuring Installation". I shut off power via the power switch and restart from scratch. Restarts OK. Anyone with similar problems?? I have an iMac duo, 2.16GHZ, 1GB memory, 250 GB hard drive, with 250 GB external storage using Time Machine.
Thanks,

Same problem here, original Intel iMac running 10.5.5, 10.5.6 update stalls at the "Configuring Installation" window after clicking Restart.Monday, December 15 2008 @ 03:39 PM PST

Yes, same problem here too. Called Apple. They said to wait a few days this was perhaps the cause of a busy server.Monday, December 15 2008 @ 03:43 PM PST

Worked fine for me although it did take quite a while to complete the install on my iMac G5 PPC. I just waited -- everything came out fine..Monday, December 15 2008 @ 05:16 PM PST

mrbjclark -- I had the exact same issue as you. It hung at configuring installation, I had to do a hard restart but so far everything seems fine but I'm still at 10.5.5. Guess I'll wait and see what's what before I try again.Monday, December 15 2008 @ 06:14 PM PST

I didn't have any issues, but I have read about this before. it's not hanging, it's just taking a very long time for some systems.Monday, December 15 2008 @ 07:48 PM PST

Did the same thing to me - hung on "configuring installation." After an hour, I force-restarted it and it rebooted normally. It still says 10.5.5. Go figure ....Monday, December 15 2008 @ 07:52 PM PST

Same issue here on my MacBookPro 2.6Ghz, 4M RAM. I have been running 10.5.5 just fine and have never had a problem with any update.Hangs on "Configuring Installation" every time (and like someone else here, I waited over an hour). I used Software Update. I can still boot to 10.5.5 without any issues.

After having this problem, I repaired permissions, then downloaded the ComboUpdater from Apple's website. It contains a package installer, which I ran and it worked fine. No problems encountered so far under 10.5.6.Monday, December 15 2008 @ 11:23 PM PST

This same thing has happen to me on two different computers: A Mac Book Pro and a G5 -- both running 10.5.5. This is the first time I've had an issue with a software update, but this is a doozy.Reply to This
