I've produced over 30 DVD's using MovieGate V 2.67. First off, it is so much quicker than iDVD (in a direct comparison, MG was produced an image in 8 hours, and iDVD took 16 hours for the same input source). And of course the best thing is that it allows you to make high quality, beautifully produced menus with the freedom to be as creative as you want. I don't even bother with iDVD any more.
The only problems with this version has been that the user interface is not very polished i.e. it could be more intuitive, and this version allows you to produce a DVD without checking to make sure that the menu will actually work (with buttons). In fact, it took me a very long time to figure out why the DVD's produced with MG were crashing my Mac DVD Player, and yet the same videos would play fine in my XBOX and also a PC. I discovered this to be a bug with a peculiar work-around. Hopefully all of these minor issues will be addressed in the newer versions, but still this is a great piece of software and well worth the $20 shareware cost.
