Source is 86GB. Destination is 150GB.

This version of Silverkeeper repeatedly says that the Destination is too small. What kind of arithmetic is this?

This software is written by a company selling hard drives that have a history of chronic and unremitting failures. Do a web search if you don't believe me.

This is bad software. Run, run faraway.

What the hell are you talking about? I've probably sold 100 LaCie drives over the years with barely a failure.

You need free space for the backup.

You need working space for copying new files/folders. they are copied before deleting the older version of changed files.

If you wish to start a new backup, make sure the Destination is empty, as SilverKeeper tries to mirror the Source onto the Destiantion drive; i.e. when making a full disk backup, SilverKeeper will try to make the Destination drive look like the Source. When defining a backup set, SilverKeeper will warn you if it finds something on the Destination. After confirming, SilverKeeper will not warn again, except if there is not enough room. This is so backups can be unattended.

SilverKeeper does NOT have an option to erase the Destination before making a new backup.

This is to help prevent accidentally deleting files/folders already on the drive during a backup.

Apparently you have not been using Silverkeeper for long. LaCie is providing a free and high quality backup application, whether you buy their drives or not, that works and is easy to use. That is highly commendable and a rare offering. Mike has been maintaining SilverKeeper for years and is always quite responsive whenever I've had problems.

Your comments are without any basis. I've used several of their hard drives (actually LaCie doesn't make hard drives but provides enclosures) and have been quite satisfied. I had only a problem with one of them and they promptly replaced it.

I'm not associated with LaCie but I am a happy customer and glad they've provided Silverkeeper all these years. I was thrilled to see that it now works with Leopard.
