So here is my review: It's a competent AIM client for text messaging, some SMS, and a file transfer or two. It's the AIM client AOL should have released when OS X became the primary OS for the Mac. As I said, it seems to function well, and is clean UI wise, VASTLY superior to the existing AIM client. Having said all this the world has gone far beyond this today and so has the Windows client. Without video etc., it's not as good an AIM solution as iChat is and when all you want to do is text chat products like Adium allow you to use one app to chat with all platforms so I can't see where this falls? You would hope that AOL had a contract with Apple to leverage the iChat code in return for access to the AIM network but I guess that's not the case. I really see no reason for this software or the effort that's being put into it, any more than Desktop for Mac that is equally weak in comparison to it's Windows or the old OS X 5.X counterpart. With Mac share growing AOL should either work for platform parity (Windows, Mac, Linux) and differentiate itself and it's offerings that way using web 2.0 tools or close up shop. This slow bleed is hard to watch from the sidelines. If I could just run the company for a day...ugh...
