I have run into a problem with the latest Parallels and wonder if anyone else has experienced this.
I own one copy of MS Vista which I have installed on my MacBook Pro and have used successfully with VMFusion and Parallels whilst traveling. At home I use the exact same software on my G5 desktop, never at the same time as my MacBook Pro.
After upgrading my copy of VMFusion I continue to use Vista without problems on both Macs. However, after using this latest Parallels upgrade Vista tells me I am using an illegal copy and that I need to buy another copy of Vista. This has happened on BOTH my MacBook Pro and G5 making it impossible to run my PAID-FOR Parallels on EITHER computer with a PAID-FOR Vista.
Can anyone shed any light on this, please? The FAQ on Parallels web site is no use and I refuse to pay their Tech Support to find out how I can use a LEGAL copy of Parallels.

Upgrade stops me using Vista - eldiabloconqueso
Both Parallels Desktop and VMWare's Fusion only work on Intel-based Macintosh computers.Explain to us, exactly, how you're running Parallels and/or VMWare's Fusion with Microsoft Vista on your PowerPC-based G5 desktop, as I'm sure there are a ton of PowerPC-based Macintosh users wondering how they can possibly run unsupported software on their machine.
I eagerly await your response.

Has someone been smoking too much crack lately?Parallels Desktop will NEVER work on a PowerPC G5 nor will VMware nor CrossOver or any other newer Intel ONLY emulator.
What a pathetic claim with pure lies

well Microsoft, through the wonderful advent of software authentication, allows one copy of Vista to be installed on only one machine at the time. So even if you weren't lying about running Parallels (or VW Fusion) on your G5, it's still not something your one license of Vista allows. Has nothing to do with Parallels.Sunday, November 09 2008 @ 01:45 PM PST

While we all know that you are lying about using this on your G5, you should be thankful that you cant run Vista anymore. What garbage. XP is a decent piece of software but Vista is truly garbage. Maybe this is good that you cant run Vista.....Oh, and are we supposed to believe the rest of your post or just ignore the fact you (and only you...in the entire universe) can run Parallels on a PPC?

This is an interesting problem and I am grateful to you for telling us about it. It makes me think twice about using Parallels Desktop (which I own).Reply to This
