DW is an excellent product. However, the current update is a rip-off. I had updated from DW4 to DW4.1, and created a new bootable DW4.1 CD, following their instructions. To avoid the proliferation of CDs of different versions of software for which I have paid, I then threw away the DW4 original disk. The new update (DW4.1.1) however requires the ORIGINAL (DW4) CD. I asked Alsoft for help, but the only useful answer was to tell me that I have to buy a new CD. I have however paid for this already, so they are asking me to pay double. There was never any warning issued not to throw away the original CD after upgrading to create a new bootable CD.

Caveat emptor!

update rip-off - samadore

Actually, their literature makes it pretty clear you're going to need the ORIGINAL CD for updating (including when we did the update from 4 to 4.1).

It was your decision to throw the original disk away. No one told you to do this. It's called operator error. Now you'll need to pay for your mistake by buying it again. I doubt you'll throw the next one away :p

Never throw away any original disks, at least image them - Ilgaz

If you really hate having a original CD/DVD, you could at least image it using the built in Disk Utility to your hard disk.

I can't understand how come one clearly makes a mistake and flames software vendor. In fact, I believe, if you have explained the situation nicely to them, they could even send you a replacement CD/DVD.

Lets say if your system fails to boot and you threw away your leopard/tiger DVD. Will you blame Apple for not being able to install the OS again?
