Adobe don't seem to want Mac business

Feedback Type:  Commentary

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Have Not Tried

Recommend Product: NO

I have spent a week trying to buy Acrobat form Adobe. They do not make a standard version 9 for Mac as yet and will not sell the version 8 which can run on Mac. They suggested I buy the Professional version, as I am in the UK this cost about 4 times as much as the standard version 9 (Windows only) from the US. All I want the program for is so I can fill in PDF forms and save them, which I am not even certain I can do. Adobe offer a free trial of Acrobat 9 Professional, but you guessed it, only on Windows.

I can vaguely understand that itunes confines people to purchasing a download from the store in their own country due to copy write problems on third party products, but why do Adobe do it? The cost from UK store is bout twice the price of the US, although as the dollar strengthens the difference is shrinking Acrobat Pro from US $449 from the UK UKP522 (as of today that is = US$850) for a download.

If you only need need to fill-out forms PDFpenPro will do that very nicely at a much lower purchase price.

Formulate Pro will fill out forms and it's free (although you really should tip the dev when you consider how awesome it is to not have to use bloated, buggy Acrocrap any longer):

Skim let's you overlay notes and a ton of other useful things and it's also free:

Spread the word (and please tip the devs of these wonderful apps). Acrobat needs to die.

I totally agree -- Acrobat (and even Adobe) need to die.

Adobe don't seem to want Mac business - man290663

do what the rest of the world do buy it via a US proxy service... they bill your credit cars the cost in US$ plus the lesser of 5% or $20 and they buy it (the serial number as anyone can download the trial version but it needs a serial number to function) for you then transfer the licence to you.

search for links within your own organisation or search purchase prosy USA
