Normally SmileOnMyMac delivers nicely. Unfortunately this morning installing TextExpander 2.5 on my Air caused the Finder to seize immediately, asking for me to "turn on Assistive Devices" but ignoring any input, mouse or otherwise.
You've no concept of fun until you've tried to remove a buggy preference pane from a MacBook Air that freezes on Finder load... (God bless Remote Access and my wife's iMac.)
Proceed gently.

Ouch! Freezes my MacBook Air Finder - mikirby
Just for future reference, you should be able to boot in 'safe mode' by holding down shift until you reach the Finder, which will disable all third-party software and allow you to remove a buggy prefpane.Reply to This
