This app is a true uninstaller as it gives you a complete record of any files added after you run a new program for the first time. Other programs which claim to find and delete the files associated with a program simply don't find them all. That's because Uninstaller takes a snapshot of your disk prior to your running a program the first time, and compares it to the disk state afterwards.

However, this approach requires a little more work than the passive app deleters, but not much. The most important point is that you have to use Uninstaller the FIRST time you run a new program. A month after the fact won't work. The procedure is basically very simple: 1) Start Uninstaller and hit the "Save" button to take a snapshot of your hard disk or home folder; 2) start the new program you want to try out for the first time, then quit that program; 3) open Uninstaller again and hit the "compare" button. Uninstaller will give you a list of any files or folders added; 4) if you wish, delete the files and folders right away, or go to the File menu > Save List, and your list can be stored for later deletion.

Usually after step 1, I either minimize Uninstaller or hide it (command-H) until I am ready to do step 3. This keeps it out of the way, but still running.

Uninstaller has many other features but this basic approach is all one really needs to keep track of programs you've installed. It's particularly necessary if you try out of a lot of shareware or demos and don't want the detritus from them lying around on your hard drive forever.

Other app deleters just don't do as complete a job in my experience. I've compared several of them head-to-head with Uninstaller and Uninstaller often lists files not found by the others, including invisible files (which Uninstaller shows in red).

As for the documentation, it is a bit hard to follow sometimes, and not helped by the fact that it is written with Frenglish grammer. But the basic idea is easy to grasp and there is always tech support if you get stuck.
