I'm really tired of these silly requests for this software to go away. If you don't need it fine but there are some of us who do need it and as long as we exist so will Stuffit Expander. I suggest you move along and quit posting such silly comments. It's not the end of the world and it's not hurting you so why not just give it a rest.

Because it's become a self perpetuating fraud - younkint

Long ago, Macs did not have file compression built in to the system. Those days are long gone. This software is a vestige of days past. Why do you think Aladdin dumped this to Smith Micro years ago? Smith Micro made a bad business decision to buy Stuffit, and now they're stuck with it. The only way they can make back their investment is to constantly hit you with PAID "upgrades" that add little or no functionality to the program. Should I mention the SPAM? Smith Micro needs to get out of the Mac software business and stick to their PC SPAM ...Windows users expect it, so they'll fit right in.

If developers would quit using this (actually, nearly all have) there would be zero reason to have it at all.

If you want to decompress a .sit file (and I haven't seen one in years), use the FREE "The Unarchiver."

The next time someone sends me a .sit file (unlikely these days...), I am going to contact them to request it be sent as a .zip.

Hmmm. I didn't have to pay for the upgrade. Have never had to pay for Expander. Ever. Don't know what PAID upgrade you're referring to (unless you're actually not reviewing Expander at all, but rather StuffIt itself, in which case you're in the wrong place).
