Used Product For: Over One Year

Hello and thank you for your comment.

First of all, there is no time restriction. You can use up to three cell phones, even on different computers and the plugins you use are updated when you click the update button. This works just like the software update from Apple or any sparkle update from any other program. So nothing new or strange here.

While it is true that not all 100+ plugins are installed at once, we had the experience that many (and I mean a real lot of people) distributed our software illegal through the net. Not a very nice move, since we do keep the price of the software real low and offer extensive support and regular updates. But there is no sense in giving the Mac community the means to sync their phones by loosing money in the end. So please address your concern to these copyright violators.

Based on the experience of the last years (!) our customers change their phones about once every two years. So with one purchase of 10 Euro, you get your sync-needs covered for about 6 years. That is unlike any bargain I have ever heard of. With the old system, you would have had to buy a new version after 12 months, if you had change you phone.

So actually you get more for the same price, and we are happy to be able to keep the product alive.

Thanks again for your thoughts,

Jan Fuellemann (nova media)

Re:Not quite so - al-bl

Thanks for your response and explanations. I guess I'm in the minority that I update my cellphone every 6 - 12 months (can't resist the latest models!), and I also have two cells - one for business and one for personal use.

About the time restriction - I read on your website that updates are only free if you purchased within the past 12 months, which implies you have to pay again after 12 months... Perhaps this needs clarifying on the website?

I also think you should make it clear from the outset that you only have access to 3 plugins, rather than the full 190+ supported models, as advertised.

Finally, you didn't address my privacy concerns at all regarding what private or other data you are collecting from my computer when your software "calls home". Other companies clearly state, and even allow the user to review what data is sent, but I can't find anything like that in this software.

Re:Not quite so - osos10

al-bl thanks for clarifying these unclear issues. Your remarks, in addition to the little support for motorola phones and no support for LG phones, helped me make up my mind about this product (that is - I'll keep my 10 euros, and make sure that my next cellular is compatible with Apple's isync).

Re:Not quite so - Jan Fuellemann

Hello,

as you might know, our plugins are limited to whatever iSync offers as infrastructure. Many Motorola and LG phones do not support the protocols iSync requires, so we can not support them either.

If you look for a better way to sync and work with your phone and Mac,tyr FoneLink at http://www.novamedia.de/fonelink

Thanks

Re:Not quite so - Jan Fuellemann

Hi,

true - we do 2 things: We load the current list of supported phones, so the list you see is most recent and only if you click on "Update" in case a plugin is old, we update your plugins. No other data is transferred.

About the time restrictions: When you have purchased an old plugin within the last 12 months from us, the update is free. There is no time restriction for the new version.

Kind Regards,

Jan Fuellemann

Good stuff - Sorin Paliga

I am an old customer of Novamedia. Some 3 years ago I purchased their kit requried by my (then) SE510i, recently by my wife’s Nokia Classic 3120 and my E51. I have activated Classic Nokia on both my mac (for testing, of course) and my wife’s (of course too, for current use), then my E51 and, alas, all my 3 activations are gone. If I want to sell may mac or else by another phone, which may require Novamedia plugins, I cannot de-activate my twice-activated classic Nokia, and replace it by the new phone. After a long exchange of e-mails with the developer, I find this is not possible. fortunately, I do not need any now, I have decided, after using and testing all sorts of mobile phones, that iPhone beats any competitor. No, I am no mac-maniac, it really beats anything else.
as about plugin builder in DEv Tools, well, I tried to build my plugins for named Nokias + samsung J700... does not work. I may be an idiot or have bad luck, but does not seem to be so easy.
Summing up: Novamedia sells good and reliable stuff, definitely worth € 10. do not make the mistake to just test one phone, you will not be able to delete it and replace by another one! this is at least what happens now, I do hope the developer may find a simple solution to delete/replace a certain phone by another. This is my only complaint. Otherwise, serious stuff, prompt answers to questions. Congratulations.

Not quite so - man290663

Actually most people change their phones every 12 months at most with some changing after a theft or loss on average every 3 months .

also buying a new version still does NOT remove the old fixing of installed models.. a way to remove models once installed is a MUST to continue using this system.

I have now changed to MacMe for this as this has none of the limitations...
