Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Over One Year

Recommend Product: YES

Transmission has been a nifty program sometime.
Light, fast and not bloated like it's counterparts (in both MAC OS X and WIN environments).

It hasn't crashed my machine.
It's worked fine in that area.

The problem that I have found and have tested - is that v1.34 downloads more data than the size of the file being transferred. 70mg file transferred in about 15min - in that same period of time - the data amount transferred from our ISP jumped to over 120mg!! Tried with Azureus - 78mg.

Tried again with a 300mg file - 647mg with Transmission.
With Azureus, just over 370mg.

I would suggest going back to an earlier version of Transmission - until this problem and the problems of crashing other users have experienced is resolved.

AND ***DO NOT*** dismiss earlier working versions of Transmission - it's still a useable program.

NOTE: The discrepancy between the size of a file and the actual amount downloaded is due to the transfer protocol - and I would allow 50 to 100mg on a file - depending on how long the bit torrent client was running - as there is constant DownLoad being chewed up even when seeding a file. (The rough calc for "seeding only" was 647mg per month of DownLoad if you ran Az 24/7 just for seeding!)

What Happened?? - timta21

The developer is aware of these issues. There is a lot of discussion about it on the Trasmission Forums. Some users report using a pre 1.3 version (like 1.22) resolves this problem. The developers have been working on nightly updates (that you can download) to eliminate these problems. Hopefully it will be fixed in 1.35 or 1.40. Supposedly the problem pops up on certain torrents and certain peers and not on others.
