We switched our entire law firm over to Apple's Pages a year ago and never looked back. I know the arguments:
(1) "We need features in Word that Pages does not have." Wrong. Pages has nearly everything Word has, plus some. Trust me. Pages will do everything you want and it will do it faster and in a more stable manner. (One thing missing is fields.)
(2) "We need Word compatibility." Pages reads Word documents and exports them. Is the conversion perfect? No. But it is pretty close. And for most people, it IS perfect.
Look. I don't work for Apple. I have no stake in what you do. I am telling you this because I have been there. I know it feels risky. But risky is buying a Macintosh. You did that! If you download the free Pages from Apple and learn it (it is different in many respects from Word), you will love it. See: http://www.apple.com/iwork/
One more thing - if you try Pages and decide it can't do something you want it to do, you are probably wrong. You just need to learn how Pages does it. But Pages is stable, full featured, and fast. Apple did an outstanding job with Pages - they just need to market it further.

Buy Apple's Pages, people! - DavidRavenMoon
I love Apple software, and Pages is great. But I also like MS Office, and I prefer Entourage to Mail/iCal/Address Book, so the idea of replacing Word with Pages wouldn't help me out one bit!Like many Mac users, I didn't use Office. I used AppleWorks, or even TextEdit for simple documents. I used Mail, but got tired of it not working with HTML formatted messages well.
My wife was a big Office user, and when I started running into limitations in the Apple software, she showed me how to do the things I needed in Office. Office is quite powerful, especially if you run your own business.
Pages is a nice page layout program, but I use Quark and InDesign for that.

Or buy Nisus Writer Pro or Mellel. Heck, even OpenOffice 3 is alright.Reply to This
