I posted this on the Bento forum. I am reposting it here as a warning to potential new users who, like me, expected at least a minimal level of support from Filemaker:
The problem here is that there were NO bug fixes to v1. It was really a beta release; I learned to get around the bugs (basically by not using the features in question). Only a mug or desperado would buy another Family Pack after 8 months to get the bugs fixed. I'm neither ;-)
The bugs were a real inconvenience to me, but I figured I'd hold out for a v1.1 release. As we all know, this never happened. I own a LOT of software and this is the first time I've experienced such poor support. Although I can easily afford to buy another Family Pack, I won't on principle. As I said... "Only a mug or a desperado..."! By extrapolation, I will now avoid purchasing any Filemaker products in the future. The support has been simply appalling. After waiting 8 months for a bug fix release, I consider myself to be a patient user. Unless the problem was user error, the support on the Bento forum has been of the form "I have reported this to our engineers". The implication being that it will be dealt with in a reasonable timeframe. I don't think any of us expected to have to pay for these bug fixes!
