This is a copy of the Email I just sent BrainJuice's sales department. Is anybody else having problems even attempting to purchase this software?
-----
Do you not want my business?
How many other sales are you losing because your customers are experiencing similar problems like I am experiencing?
First off, your web store doesn't take my credit card. Odd, since most other merchants do. [Ed: Using a secure, single-use card number generated by Discover Card.]
So I try to use your PayPal option and I can not proceed with the transaction without signing up for a PayPal account?
I'm sorry, but I refuse to sign up for a PayPal account. PayPal is the wors[t] scum of the Earth.
Begrudgingly I've purchased software through PayPal in the past, because other vendors have not required me to actually sign up for an account. Why are you?
If you want my money, let me know.

So you don’t have (or won’t use) a normal credit card, you won’t sign up for a PayPal account, and you’re surprised that you‘re having trouble purchasing software? What exactly do you expect? So far, having a PayPal account has caused me no trauma and I never seem to have trouble purchasing software. If you won’t go through normal channels to pay, don’t blame the software developers.Saturday, November 08 2008 @ 01:52 PM PST

No offense, but I prefer to use single-use credit card numbers. It cuts down on both credit card fraud and it makes me feel safer purchasing products online. And, since I'm the consumer parting ways with my money, a vendor should at least acknowledge that fact. With regards to PayPal, they are evil and the worst scourge on the Internet. They act like a bank but eschew all banking regulations. I have personally lost hundreds of dollars as a direct result of their mafia-like tactics. Forgive me for never wanting to give another one of my hard-earned dollars to them.
BrainJuice is right though, I was able to purchase the software — AFTER SIGNING UP FOR A FRAKKING PAYPAL ACCOUNT — and subsequently immediately cancelling it.
What I don't get however is many other software vendors use PayPal - but they have their account configured such that if I purchase from them I am not forced to open up an actual PayPal account. I don't have a problem giving PayPal my CC number (one time use only remember?) it's just the forced opening of an account. And why? To artificially inflate PayPal's own subscription numbers to make eBay look better to their investors? Get real.
The whole transaction involved several more extra steps that I shouldn't have been forced to go through.
However, I have to give BJ credit. They have been very responsive to my support and suggestions. I thought Blogo would solve a problem I was having with one of my Wordpress Blogs, but even with this latest beta I still can't use it, preferring to use the latest beta of ecto instead.

George,We replied to this email, as it appears you were eventually able to purchase the software. We're sorry you had problems with your credit card, however these matters are under Paypal's control and not ours, as they process our credit card transactions.
