Disappointing

Feedback Type:  Troubleshooting Report

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Over One Year

The quality of service has slipped dramatically at Versiontracker. This year, I have attempted to contact customer service no fewer than 10 times over the space of a month to address an issue. I received auto-responses acknowledging my email, but I never received a single contact from a human being and the problem remains unaddressed.

And today, a new problem. I downloaded 4.5.1 for my MacBook Pro laptop, which is running OS 10.4. Versiontracker 4.5.1 doesn't work, so I tried to reinstall 4.5. Versiontracker doesn't make it available. There are links to 4.5, but clicking on any link to "Download version 4.5" (or the like) gets you yet another download of 4.5.1. Very frustrating.

Time was that Versiontracker not only had a quality product, but also provided top notch customer support. It is disappointing to seem them move so far from that ideal. Since their product no longer works for me, and they refuse to provide any customer service or support, I have no choice but to cancel my subscription. It's a shame, really. It used to be such a useful and well done product.

This reply template started to get irritating - Ilgaz

Dear whoever pastes this template to each support request.
I need to remind you that each person you reply pays $50/year ($20 more than windows) and deserves a better HUMAN response rather than template pasting.
Mac users are used to better service for higher money. Please give them the service they require.
You may think that template pasting looks like you guys care but at least here, I decided NOT to use VT pro until some actual human response has been noticed.
What next? Outsource to bangalore and reply with fake english names?
Which other part of CNET earns $50 per person and much more in case of companies?

Re: This reply template started to get irritating - CNET TechTracker Staff

Hello Ilgaz,

We appreciate your feedback -- I appreciate it specifically as someone who has worked with you before on VersionTracker issues.

Though we do use this blanket response quite often, every post is reviewed, and I can assure you that this is not the only response we give.

I think the issue here may be our different expectations:

We review our feedback frequently, and one goal is to get our customers familiar with the resources available to assist them - namely, the knowledge base and support ticketing system available on our website (http://support.versiontracker.com). We make a major effort to funnel people through the proper channels for the best service experience possible. The site is still new to many of our visitors and we are still working to increase its visibility, so this remains an ongoing effort.

Most people do not review all responses to each post, so we are compelled to keep putting this information in front of our readers.

Regards,
Kris
