Existing users, 
I downloaded and had the same problem (menu bar items missing) with 4.2b2 (20080920) last night. This morning Windowshade offers 4.2b2 again - no indication they changed the revision overnight to (20080921).
But I downloaded / installed it suspecting they had been pushed into an update overnight. Seems much more stable now. I do wish they had called it b3 and updated the info so I would not have had to go simply on my suspicion.
