well, if you have used stuffit for that long, you must remember the pain and suffering the sale to smith-micro put us through. what was an essential utility in the days of dial-up internet and 100 Mb hard drives, when every k saved made a difference, was turned into a machine to harvest email addresses by the new publisher.

you must also remember that every time a system update came out from the mothership, stuffit was the first suspect and usually main culprit in startup crashes and instability.

luckily i have expanded all my ancient archives long before stuffit no longer expanded disk doubler files (remember those?) and in the era of big hard drives, cheap storage and fast internet access, i have dropped stuffit from my toolbox and never looked back. i for one am glad this program is no longer needed.

nothing good for the mac will ever come from smith-micro. good riddance.
