I've been using VLC for ages, but I've run into a couple of problems with v0.9.2. When first opening .avi files, I'm presented with blurry, blocky, stuttering images that take several seconds to "settle in" and run smoothly (sounds like a caching problem?). Skipping ahead results in the same initial blockiness. Also, the skip-ahead button on the controller actually skips BACK a few seconds. I've tested this on several files from different sources and they all behave the same. Yes, I've deleted the preferences from earlier versions.
Is anyone else experiencing diminished performance with this version? I'm running 10.4.11 on an iMac G5 2ghz. Not state-of-the-art, but perfectly adequate for what it's used for.

I've now reverted to v0.8.6f (the only other version I had archived) and all the problems are gone. Something's definitely not right with the new version.Wednesday, September 17 2008 @ 02:31 PM PDT
