My “friends on the VersionTracker team”...

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Over One Year

Recommend Product: NO

...are no longer available via email. VersionTracker Pro has not been working properly since CJNET has been managing it, so I sent email asking for assistance because of the following problems:

1. Many current versions of my applications show newer versions in the VersionTracker app window. This has increased over the past few months.

2. The VersionTracker web site falsely reports that no version of any software is installed on my computer. This too has increased over the past few months.

3. Today, The VersionTracker application has consistently reported that my computer cannot connect to the Internet (error code 28), when it is indeed connected. In fact, it reports newer versions of software that I have set to ignore (another problem), which indicates that it has connected to the Internet.

I received a response saying that tech support’s email address has changed, but not what the new address is. Instead, it directed me to this web site page to post a comment.

The once useful and reliable VersionTracker has become a disaster under CJNET’s management, which has become unavailable to customers other than to collect payment for a program that has stopped working.

Does anyone know if there is a comparable program that actually works?

"3. Today, The VersionTracker application has consistently reported that my computer cannot connect to the Internet (error code 28), when it is indeed connected."

A bug going way back, accompanied by that damned annoying bounce-bounce in the dock.

FYI - Anyone who has experienced this out of nowhere for the past day or two is not falling prey to a bug in our services -- we had a system issue which was causing an Error 28 but have since resolved it.

I've been running into this for almost a week now - any suggestions for how to make it go away, please?

Yes, this is appalling. I have the same problem. And whilst this is sorted out, VT is unusable, since it refuses to work unless I delete back to three computers or less. Man or man, this used to be a good service. Now, I don't know.

Re. VersionTracker support - CNET TechTracker Staff

Robert,

We're very sorry to hear about the trouble you have had with your subscription.

The bounce message you received from an old address should not have pointed you to this page, but instead, to our Support site here: http://support.versiontracker.com

On the above page, you may visit the "Email Support" tab to contact us directly. Once you open a ticket, you may then respond to that ticket via e-mail to continue your conversation with a support representative.

Our support team should be able to assist you with each of the issues you bring up in your post. I can tell you that your error 28 was very likely from a temporary server issue that we have since fixed. If you are still experiencing this, please try to quit and re-start VersionTracker Pro.

Regards,
VersionTracker Support
