I find Stox to provide a useful snapshot of how my portfolio is doing. It provides a clean, simpler interface. However, I keep running into bugs. First of all, for mutual funds it keeps track of the number of shares out to some large number of decimals but only displays them out to two decimals. If you try to enter in a sell record, it will reject it unless you type in exactly how many it thinks you have out to the full number of decimals, which can be problematic since it doesn't give you any way of finding out how many it thinks you have. After one has accumulated dividend reinvestments and so forth for a while, it can be difficult to figure this out. I've given up tracking mutual fund shares with this program.

A second problem I've just started noticing is that it is not correctly calculating the %age gain/losses for my stocks and the total summary %age is likewise not reflecting either the correct figure nor the incorrect figures displayed for my individual stocks. This is really problematic since this is the main function for me. I'm not sure if this is a general problem with the program or if my Stox database has become corrupted and the program is not detecting it. Either way, it's not inspiring confidence.

I've already reported the mutual funds problem but it took a month or two before they got around to responding and so far, a month later, they haven't done anything about it. I'm not too impressed with the support.

I can't really recommend the program based on my experiences thus far but if it ever starts actually working then it would be a worthwhile program for me. Meanwhile, I think I'm going to look into alternatives. I can't trust my finances to something that is being this problematic.
