Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Over One Year

Recommend Product: YES

I'm mainly writing this to offset the other person's opinion that phpMyAdmin is difficult to set up or that it doesn't work.

The truth is that if you are at all familiar with PHP and SQL this is a breeze to set up. It requires rock bottom beginner level understanding of both to setup and even less to use. It works very well and improves greatly with each version. phpMyAdmin is used by tons of web hosts because it is so easy to use.

I highly recommend it.

What is the difference between using this and the MySQL that is in the cPanel?

phpmyadmin is an complete web-application to manage mysql, EASY to deploy in an existing apache/unix setup. (like in os X or a plain typical linux)

in fact, in linux (ubuntu, redhat and so on ), after installation of the systems, it's reaaaally fast to put phpmyadon in the apache web server directory and go on.

it's why phpmyadmin is so used.

on os X, you can do the same, but apple is hiding a litte more details than under linux. it's why it's not an end-user product.

It's true it ask you to understand what is apache or mysql but in fact, a working linux (just from fresh install) is all you need.
