I ran the app for the Intel Mac. Some windows began to appear then froze. Other applications began to freeze. Mouse clicks were delayed for several minutes as I wrestled to shut down the applications and reboot my computer. Deadly.

Mac OS X should be as secure as you say, but it isn't, in my experience. I've had browsers...Safari and Firefox both..take over my Intel Mac so completely that all I see is the spinning rainbow. There is no response whatsoever to keyboard or mouse, and no recourse but to power off and restart.So the person reporting the problem may not be as ignorant as you naively suppose.

If a single running application suddenly freezes and then crashes, Mac OS X will never bring the rest of your computer down with it as the application in question will simply quit, leaving other applications alone. So I'm afraid either you don't know what you are doing or you are not giving us 'the greater picture'.
This application is actually extremely good- better imo than Audacity.
