Doesn't Resolve 3G Network issues

Feedback Type:  Review

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

I've installed, and everything went well.

But the BUGS I've been experiencing related to the 3G network and it switching to Edge *without* losing service (i.e. NO SERVICE message) still persists. Basically, I have to turn OFF the 3G network to have good, reliable phone service. Or use WiFi. I don't even bother with 3G anymore unless I'm sitting still with a strong level of 3G service, and *really* need to use the internet. Otherwise, forget it!

There are also ongoing BUGS with iTunes and the App Store where I am notified next to the Applications category on the upper left side (under Library) that there ARE updates, but when I click the arrow-icon to download the updates, am told that "no updates are currently available." And duplicates of individual applications appear in the Mobile Applications folder within the iTunes library (~/Music/iTunes/Mobile Applications), where duplicate apps are appended with numbers (ex: Pandora.ipa, Pandora 1.ipa, Pandora 2.ipa). I have spoken with iTunes support several times and they have tried multiple steps to resolve this issue, to no avail. Now they "admit" that this problem is KNOWN, ongoing and persistent. They said it would be resolved.

Still disappointed and very frustrated. Mostly **ANGRY** that Apple will not admit to any of the problems. Yet AT&T has confirmed the 3G network issues with me with escalated tech support calls.

Doesn't Resolve 3G Network issues - Vinita Boy

Funny thing, tliszt, I just updated two of the free apps on my iPhone within 2.0.2 . . . and all went perfectly. So what am I/we supposed to believe here? YOU have problems, but I don't. YOU are angry, but I am ecstatic. So, who do we listen to? Whose experience is the more valid and believable? Look, if it's possible, return your phone and try to get your money back. My mother couldn't wear a watch, no matter how fine or expensive it was. Perhaps YOU can't use an iPhone. It happens. So shuck the anger, get a RIM or a TREO, and be happy. Clearly, iPhone/Apple is not for you, nor is it for everyone.

vb, what a load of crap you've written there. wanna-be elitist prick. my iphone crashes quite a lot and i do not have any third party apps on there and always do all the "recommended" updates. 3G connection goes goodbye whenever it likes. of course it is not apple's fault, now is it? it never can be. i am using apple since 15 years but i didn't lose the ability to recognize shit when i see it.

Sounds like you might have a bad phone (it happens). Take it back to the place you bought it and exchange it for a new one, if it can't be fixed to your complete satisfaction.

My battery died on me (original first version iPhone). Still under original warrantee, they looked at it briefly at the Genius Bar at the store where I bought it, plugged it into their computers, attempted to run a diagnostic. NADA. She whipped out a new phone, switched the sim cards updated the system and VOILA . . . I'm good to go . . . no fuss, no hassles, just "thank you very much", with a big smile.

Now, I can't say you'll have the same experience, but this has been my experience all along with Apple Stores. Even though I was briefly frustrated and mystified by the recent MobileMe fiasco, I am very happy at how Apple is attacking the problems head on, complete with acknowledgement of the problems, rebates (free months) and updates. At first they were confused (LOL). But, they seem to have made the transition BACK to the good Apple I have come to expect. I was worried there for a bit, to be honest, that perhaps some Microsoft virus had infected the staff! <GRIN>

PS: We are adding a new iPhone 3G on Sunday, when my other Sprint contract expires! Yipee!!! Freedom!!! <GRIN>
