Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Recommend Product: YES

This app does EXACTLY what it says it does however for iphone/ipod based remotes it uses Bonjour and very slowly at that. for basic itunes use its not a patch on the Apple Remote App!.
(had it been faster it would have earned another star)

Powerpoint and other remote work using iphone/ipod is so slow as to render it unusable for real-time presentations (at the speed I need to do them) but has some great features- although the user interface is not as intuitive as I would have hoped..

For hardwired Remotes it Works as described but I don't feel it adds any functionality to the Keyspan remote that the Keyspan software does Not have. (had it done more it would have earned another 1/2 star)

However if you need to work with SEVERAL different remotes then tis IS the application for you as it can use any remote to control any application.

Some support materials are only available in German but it is well documented overall so this is not an issue for those non-german speakers.

Unfortunately this version is now deleted from my system but I will keep looking at this product for improvements in speed and usability.

Thanks for your feedback. Please allow me to add my comments on it below:

By its very nature, a web application can never be as fast or efficient as a native application. We'd have loved to develop a native application in the first place, but Apple, back then, did not allow any third party applications on the iPhone. That said, a native client for Remote Buddy's AJAX Remote capability is already in development and will deliver superb performance.

>>Powerpoint and other remote work using iphone/ipod is so slow as to render it unusable for real-time presentations (at the speed I need to do them) but has some great features- although the user interface is not as intuitive as I would have hoped..<<

Again, what you can do in a mobile web browser that supports neither drags, nor measurement of drag lengths nor has any ability to stream live content, nor allows positioning of content as free as a desktop browser *is* severely limited compared to what a native application can do.

>>For hardwired Remotes it Works as described but I don't feel it adds any functionality to the Keyspan remote that the Keyspan software does Not have. (had it done more it would have earned another 1/2 star)<<

Please look again. Here are just *some* of the things you will not find in the Keyspan software:

- centralized and freely configurable menu for all applications
- fully configurable button mapping with great flexibility and an award-winning ease of use
- support for over 100 apps (and growing) out of the box
- plug-in support and integrated environment for the development of own plugins
- online-updater regularly providing support for new and updated apps outside of the normal release schedule
- dedicated, in-depth support for important media software such as iTunes and EyeTV support, including switching AirTunes speakers, "mounting" shared iTunes libraries, browsing and launching your media including previews
- true Apple Remote emulation (allowing you to use any remote to generate the same events as if your computer really had shipped with an Apple Remote, allowing you to use the built-in Apple Remote support of many apps with any remote supported by Remote Buddy)
- easy and quick access to in-depth system settings and functionality like screen settings, audio settings, process management, Exposé, Spaces, ..
- file browsing & launching, quick access to recently used documents
- the mousespot feature for presentations
- virtual on-screen keyboard
- ..

You'll find tons more on the Remote Buddy website and while exploring Remote Buddy.

>>However if you need to work with SEVERAL different remotes then tis IS the application for you as it can use any remote to control any application.

Please let me know, if you find anything that's not fully localized in German and English. That clearly would be an oversight on my end then.

I'm sure you'll love the native client for iPhone/iPod Touch.

Best regards,
Felix Schwarz
