Omnifocus-Cannot see my actions in context

Feedback Type:  Review

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Recommend Product: NO

I bought (downloaded) Omnifocus yesterday; today I am wondering why I paid $80 when I cannot see my entries (entries made in project mode and assigned to contexts) and I cannot find out why or how to get contexts to work for me. Other than that I find it hard to learn and use. The product page is not very helpful and neither have I found anything useful in the forum. Help!

Omnifocus-Cannot see my actions in context - Michael Stringer

I have no idea why feipor would have problems seeing items in the context view. I suspect that he/she has a filter or perspective in effect and doesn't know it. I have used this product on 2 different Macs all day every day since release and never had a single problem.

For those that understand the GTD approach to personal organisation, this is product is the best available on any OS. A friend shifted from Windows to Mac OS partly to use this product. He raves about it.

However, I would not recommend even starting to use OmniFocus until you read more about the Getting Things Done approach and watch the 10 min tutorial video that Omni Group provide. Some worthwhile things require some learning before you can achieve any value.

No offense ... but you have not learned the program. There are several great videos on the Omni Group's site and Screencasts Online has others that would benefit you if you prefer not to read the manual. Basically, you "plan" in the project view and "do" in the contexts view. Perspectives and the view menus help you to filter in or out actions that you want or do not want to see at any particular time. In fact, that 's the beauty of OmniFocus compared to other programs. It's obvious to me that you have filters in place that are keeping some of your actions hidden so that you can concentrate on what you have filtered in. That's not the fault of the program.

I know this is the manual for 1.5 but it will still help out. The manual is long but give a short read and things should start to make more sense.
