I'm really excited to see this piece of software come out. I've used Eudora *forever* and still do, and was very disappointed when it got discontinued. Unfortunately, I have to say that Odysseus is nowhere *near* ready for prime time IMHO. It's pretty flakey and is missing a lot more features than the write-up lets on.

I'm going to stay on top of the development and hopefully there will come a time when I can switch permanently, but that time is not now.

Keep up the good work everyone. I'd pay for multiple copies for my company and home in a heartbeat if Odysseus gets streamlined.

I agree completely.

If I had to give up Eudora today I'd switch to Gyaz Mail. It is clean and reportedly very solid (more so than Apple Mail). I've briefly tried PowerMail (fairly powerful but I found it clumsy) and Thunderbird. I'll keep using Eudora for now and hope for Odysseus to come through.

But I want features such as option-click to group items by author or subject and the ability to edit mail messages that I've only found in Eudora.

Your comments about the client being nowhere near ready are spot-on. I've followed development for months, and the whole development cycle has been characterized by grandiose claims -- and despite a repeated inability to meet ridiculously precise promised release dates (see one of the screenshots that announces 1.0 for May 12). The program is being developed cross-platform in RealBasic. More importantly, as much as I liked Eudora, you have to wonder about the raison d'etre of a product that is primarily conceived as a nearly-identical update of someone else's program. Talk about a lack of vision and originality! I think it's time to move on.

While it is true that development fell behind schedule, we have been working very hard to make up for lost time.<br><br>

Regarding a lack of vision... everyone is entitled to an opinion. The simple fact of the matter is, Qualcomm had a program that millions of people relied on. They dropped support, offloading it to another organization with a program nothing like Eudora. The fact that this project even exists illustrates that there are people, us included, who would rather use a Eudora style email program than something else.

It's rather incorrect to write that they "offload[ed] it to another organization with a program nothing like Eudora," since Eudora's principal architect, Steve Dorner, and other Eudora developers, are the lead programmers.

"Working hard to make up for lost time" -- another claim that means virtually nothing.

Our apologies for the poor choice of wording. When saying that Qualcomm "offloaded" Eudora onto another organization, it was simply meant to pertain to the fact that Qualcomm is relying on another organization's code base... a code which then has to be "transformed" into a new Eudora.

The comment was certainly not meant to be misleading, or in any way disrespectful of Steve Dorner and team.
