I'll compress this as much as possible: The download page was confusing, the separate codec for MP3s (LAME, how aptly named) never installed. It kept crashing in the middle of projects; often while trying to save. I know this is a popular product; clearly they've run up against some problem doubtless caused by Apple, but still...
Powerbook G4 aluminum OSX 10.5.4 plenty of RAM and free disk space.

Not good! Download problems, crashes - Jon_Link_871
They can't include lame.lib for licensing reasons. Don't hold copyright laws against them, it's beyond their control. Or would you rather pay for Audacity? And lame.lib is *really* easy to install. Just download the file and point audacity towards it when it asks. If you can't handle something that simple you'd be better off using something easy like quicktime or garage band. And I'd just like to add in my three or four years of using audacity it's crashed maybe three or four times.
