Any problems uninstalling?

Product Platform: MacOSX
Used Product For: Have Not Tried
I used to use this product when it was OSS 3D but it ran in to all sorts of problems when they switched to the daemon model. Uninstalling in particular was difficult and my sound (which sounded worse not better) did not restore until hunting down and exterminating something hidden in the System folder. A lot of people were having difficulty with this at the time. As a consequence I am very wary of trying this program again. I hope they got their act together and implemented a working uninstaller and/or told you exactly what to do to uninstall when you like. I did like the space effect as you could simulate a live concert with your studio albums, but most of the rest of the audio tweaks seemed unnecessary. I'll give it another go and report any problems. I agree $50 is excessive.

Give support a chance... - prosoft_devon
Hello simonm1,We take support of our products very seriously. Please contact our technical support so we can find out more about the problems your are experiencing. We have quite a lot of Hear users out there and the problems you are reporting are not something we've received other reports of, nor have we experienced in usage and testing ourselves. Our Uninstall has uninstalled all Hear pieces since 1.0, and we did not "switch to a daemon model", as there has always been a background daemon in Hear (and it's older predecessor OSS 3D).
Please give our tech support a chance to help investigate and diagnose what's happening on your system. If there is in fact a problem we can reproduce, we will find it and fix it quickly.
Thank you,
Devon @ Prosoft

Any problems uninstalling? Absolutely - jnaeve--2008
I thought I'd try Hear since I'm somewhat of an audiophile and played around with the various settings. It was fun to play with but the audio wasn't great. I have a fairly nice Altec Lansing audio system at home that my Mac is connected to through Griffin's iMic USB adapter. In all, I'd rate Hear at about 2.5 out of 5 stars and not sure why they've received higher. One thing I did notice is that Uninstalling and removing Hear from my system has totally messed up my audio now and I've not found the secret to restoring my audio to its original MacBook Pro quality. Something had happened to it that reminds me of the tiny transistor AM radio I had when I was a kid. This is very disappointing and tells me that JoeSoft has a long way to go before Hear is a real program. Great in concept but horrible in execution. BE AWARE! Don't install this if you're just trying it out, you will regret it.Sunday, July 27 2008 @ 06:59 AM PDT
Use Uninstaller - Prosoft
Hi there,Sorry you didn't like the Hear product. I wanted to address the uninstall though.. It's important to use the included Uninstaller if you want to remove Hear from your system.. Simply putting the app in the trash won't remove all the files (since this product runs within all apps, it different than other programs, and needs to be uninstalled using the uninstaller..). If you did use the uninstaller and still had issues, please contact our support team as we'd love to help you out..
Cheers-

I gave it another chance but... - simonm1
There are still major problems. It appears Hear is just OSS 3D with a new (albeit pretty) skin. There seems to be some kind of major memory leak because my VM swap partition ballooned astronomically and therefore brought my entire system to a halt....I'm on the latest Leopard.Reply to This
