Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Recommend Product: NO

It seems that every "update" to iTunes includes more store-like features but no actual improvements to the music experience. iTunes is an extension of the Apple.com store and is one big-honking piece of bloatware.

I'd love to dump iTunes for something more streamlined (SongBird isn't ready for primetime yet).

Want to dump iTunes? Great! Dump it. Then we won't have you see you whining all the time. What a pain some people are…

What's wrong with iTunes? Nothing as far as I see.

Works great for me and my family and our iPods.

iTunes is our home music system. Works great. What's to improve?

Worthless review - robbyx--2008

Another worthless review. Seriously, what's up with the whining. What do you want iTunes to do that it doesn't do?

So, maybe you don't like the store, etc. Fine. Don't use it. But how does beefing up the storefront aspect of iTunes take away from it being a great jukebox application?

Unfortunately, in today's world one's self-worth is predicated upon how much he or she DISLIKES virtually everything. The more things or events one disapproves of, the higher one's self esteem rises. Hate everything? You're a king. Nothing good enough for you? You're a god. There are very few true creators in this world, but a morass of critics. A world of whiners, this planet earth? Without question.

To Brass Hammer: I don't whine all the time, and this wasn't a whine, it was a comment that iTunes has become the MS Word of music (e.g. it does everything but it's slow and has lost focus on it's intended original purpose - to play music). While it does play music well, it is slow, even on my MacPro with 3GB memory.

To Gradebuster: Again, this was a comment and not even that negative, simply stated that iTunes could be much better. I was hoping to get a discussion going about what could be improved. Rather, I get people who think their comments about whining (which themselves are whiney) are more relevant than mine.

My prime comment was simple: iTunes has lost it's focus, most likely due to a lack of competition. I want to see iTunes lose the bloat.

"What do you want iTunes to do that it doesn't do?"
Well I, for one, would like it to play the videos I purchased from the iStore smoothly, which it hasn't since the last time I was dumb enough to update. And no, I don't have any codecs lurking that would be responsible. It worked, I updated, it didn't work; I think I can be forgiven for not jumping on yet another update. If this be whining...

You've been having issues since 7.3.1. I feel your pain, but I haven't been having any problems, and my Mac is old as dirt!
