OK, this is going to be ambiguous. I have just about 50-150 other more important things in life than paying $50 for an audio plugin. No matter how "better" the music sounds afterwards. And, regarding the "need" for a better sound, let me remind you all that us, humans, are much better at discerning a "difference" between things than an objective quality of one without comparing it to something else. Second, we tend to get "used to" what we hear daily so every change, no matter how unneeded and unnecessary, may seem a "better solution", while all along it is only "different". My point: there is NO music, sound, speech...anything...I consider SO bad that I can't make it better enough via preamplification and frequency band equalisation. Especially when the "solution" costs $50. Told as a joke, "I am a wire hanger guy, not a "Monster cable" one".

Editor's Choice - Prosoft

Hi there,

Everyone has an opinion and you're definitely entitled to your own :-) As it turns out, Hear is rapidly becoming the most popular product under the JoeSoft name, and it even won an Editor's Choice award from MacLife Magazine (just hit the streets)...

We're also seeing a broad mix of users for Hear. Some users are fairly basic users running off-the-shelf speakers they've bought from the Apple Store or Best Buy.. Other users are using Hear in an environment where the speakers alone are over $5000 for the set.

For anyone wondering about Hear, we want you to try the free demo from our site.. Try out the various presets but then also tweak (and save) them according to your particular tastes and set up..

Cheers,

Gordon from JoeSoft

I accept the test, I will try the demo and come back to tell the story. I will admit if wrong, I promise. Thanks for the reply. Cheers.

Thanks - Prosoft

Hi again,

Thanks for taking the challenge to demo the product out!---

There are a few things to point out. Because of the type of product that Hear is, (It runs as a daemon so it affects all sounds, not just iTunes) you will need to restart after installing (it prompts you to do that)..

Also, the presets are there to be starting points.. Everyone has different speakers and tastes, so really get into the EQ and change according to your desires. Once you've found the settings you like, go ahead and save or save-as (give custom names if you want)...

If you find that you just don't like it or aren't interested, and want to remove it, don't just trash the app into the trash bin. Because of the way Hear works, you have to use the uninstaller (found in the Hear menu)..

We have some exciting new features coming for it down the road (free updates) and plan on making it even more user friendly and powerful. We'd love to hear your feedback-

Cheers,

Gordon from JoeSoft
