Mail sent to MacOSxhints:
This is not a hint but a report on Safari 3.1.2, sorry Rob.
Yesterday I got the usual New Software Available message that included a Security Update and Safari 3.1.2. I naively said 'yes' to installing both.
I guess the Security Update installed itself correctly, however I cold find *no trace* of Safari 3.1.2 in the Applications folder, or even of the 3.1.1 (I guess it was erased by the 3.1.2). So I went to VT and dl-ed a Safari312UpdTiger.dmg. It unstuffed and installed itself OK. Today I was browsing the MacOSXhints Forum when suddely I got the feared alert "Safari quit unexpectedly". Again Safari has *disappeared* from Applications and its icon in the dock is a '?'. WTF is Apple upto??? If they think I'll fork out the 139*euros* Leopard costs over here, they are badly mistaken!
My setup: 20' iMac Intel Core 2 Duo, Tiger 11, 500GBHD, 3GB RAM.

Safari 3.1.2 for Tiger muck-up - kungaa
Oh my gosh!! I have been having trouble with it too! Usually in the past month when I go to Yahoo, it would click off; but when the security update came and was downloaded, I could not get onto it all all.Safari is suppose to be number one for Macs, but how come it doesn''t work? Please fix it or give us a better web browser.

yep... I had this happen too...which is a real prob when one is on dial up.Waited for over two hours for it to down load then found it was the wrong version.
Now I know to look at the version right at the start of the down load to check its the right one...and cancel if not.
