Ever plays files VLC can't?

I guess it boils down to one question for me: has anyone else *ever* had this play a file that the latest version of VLC couldn't?

It is different approach than VLC - Ilgaz

While I admire VLC, having a Divx Component for Quicktime framework really eases some kinds of usage. Other choice is XVid component which is open source and said to be good as or even better than Divx.
