since update of quicktime now all i get is picture but no sound so it looks like its vlc player untill quicktime is sorted out

quicktime - Razzledazzle

This sometimes is normal behavior when you first launch it after doing a software update. Close it and launch it again and everything will be OK. Or close the movie file you were watching and launch the file again and all will be OK.
